Sustainability
We believe that true sustainability encompasses more than just reducing environmental impact during construction. It also involves promoting the well-being of the people and communities that inhabit these spaces. That's why we specialize in innovative sustainable design solutions that prioritize the health and happiness of people.
We work alongside our clients using globally recognized NZGBC tools to assist them through the certification process, enabling them to establish and achieve their environmental performance targets. This helps us to create green and sustainable building environments that enhance productivity, motivation, and happiness.
At Catalyst, we're driven by a deep passion for sustainability and our responsibility to create a better future for generations to come. Join us on our mission to build a more sustainable world.
As a Green Star company, we consider environmental respect to be at the core of our philosophy. We provide environmentally sustainable solutions to our clients by carefully selecting building materials from sustainable and recyclable resources, and by creating and promoting environments that minimize energy use and waste. We encourage our clients to consider manufacturing ethics and the life cycle impacts of their choices.

Bicultural Design
Catalyst has our own Māori advisor, Wayne Walker, who provides significant guidance and competency training in Tikanga Māori. Wayne's alignment with Catalyst and his focus on upskilling our team enhances our appreciation and understanding of Te Reo, while also enabling us to better understand the history of Aotearoa New Zealand. This understanding has contributed to our recent success in designing and building the award-winning Ministry for Pacific Peoples Wellington head office fit-out.
Diversity and Inclusion
Throughout our history, Catalyst has led by example in corporate responsibility and remains steadfast in advocating and supporting an all-inclusive workplace setting. We believe in "walking the talk" when it comes to incorporating genuine inclusiveness and accessibility elements into the design, delivery, and ongoing use of workplaces.
How we work
We are experts in providing guidance
As workplace fitout specialists we tailor the process to suit your requirements to develop a customised workplace strategy.
- Establishment meeting
- Key driver meeting
- Information gather phase
- Workplace vision/design brief
Establishment Meeting
During this meeting, our main focus will be on laying the groundwork for the project by bringing everyone up to speed and clarifying key stakeholder roles for both Catalyst and our client. We will take a collaborative approach and guide the you on what to expect from us, as well as what we expect from you. This will involve asking questions to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project and its requirements.
Following the meeting, we will prepare a customised Project Plan, which will identify the engagement process, staff touchpoints, and key milestones. We understand that communication and engagement preferences can vary, so we are agile and adaptable and can scale our approach according to your needs.
Throughout the project, we will use strategically placed stop gates at each milestone to check progress and provide an opportunity for any necessary realignment. Our goal is to ensure that the project is executed efficiently and effectively, with all parties aligned and working towards a common objective.
Key Driver Meeting
This engagement session with the team leaders and key project stakeholders sets the tone and parameters for other engagement sessions. Having these key drivers identified keeps the project and staff on track towards the shared refit vision.
Information Gather Phase
We offer tailored information gathering to suit your level of engagement, whether it be hands-off or full immersion. This includes detailed briefing sessions with business units and specialist areas to understand unique requirements. We prioritise active listening during this phase.
Additionally, we develop and run strategic workshops to engage with staff, challenge current ways of work, and test new ideas. These workshops are customised to respond to your needs and are purposeful, informative, and inclusive. This early engagement helps with the change management process.
Workplace Vision/Design Brief
After immersing ourselves in your business, we prepare a detailed Design Brief that consolidates feedback from the information gathering phase. Our workplace specialists collaborate to create a vision and outline the types of spaces required to meet your needs and inspire and support your business into the future.
At Catalyst we believe in the importance of creating a workspace that supports an organisations values, culture, identity and people.
Our team will first take the time to understand your unique drivers, brand identity, the goals you have and requirements.
We believe having a workplace strategy is invaluable as it gives you a report outlining what is best suited for your workplace. The report that is generated from this study is the intelligence that flows through and underpins your spatial design.
We break down the intricacies of your current work style and challenge you to think about your workspace from another perspective.
