This project follows Catalyst’s second major office project delivered for Gallagher Insurance, their Auckland Flagship Office on Beaumont Street, with the first major project preceding it being in Wellington. Catalyst also have smaller works in Whangarei underway.
The new Gallagher Insurance office in West Auckland embodies a modern, casual workspace that prioritises functionality, collaboration, and brand identity. By seamlessly blending aesthetic appeal with practical design, the office not only meets the needs of its employees but also enhances Gallagher's presence in the region. This project stands as a testament to Gallagher’s commitment to creating inspiring work environments that foster productivity and community.
Design Objectives
The design vision for the West Auckland office centered around a functional layout that harmonises with the architectural elements of the modern development.
Brand Alignment: The design pays homage to Gallagher's headquarters by incorporating similar colors, finishes, and an open-plan concept. While the headquarters remains the focal point, the West Auckland office effectively represents the Gallagher brand, ensuring a seamless company identity.
Rebranding Cohesion: A fresh color scheme was introduced to align with Gallagher's new branding, featuring a palette of blues, woodgrain timber oak, tan vinyls, and earthy tones. This thoughtful integration not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also strengthens brand recognition.
Spatial Design
The layout was meticulously crafted to ensure functionality and adaptability, incorporating diverse working spaces to meet varying needs.
Quiet Working Rooms: Designed for solo productivity, these one-person spaces offer privacy and focus.
Group Meeting Rooms: Accommodating 4-5 people, these rooms promote teamwork and collaboration.
Larger Boardrooms: With a capacity of 16, these spaces are designed for significant discussions and presentations.
Community-Centric Spaces
Central to the office design is an open-plan kitchen and breakout area, designed to spark a sense of community. These spaces encourage informal interactions and collaboration among team members, fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
Sustainable Design and Wellness
The incorporation of greenery and ample plant life enhances the office environment, bringing vibrancy and freshness. This biophilic design not only improves air quality but also contributes to employee well-being. The large windows invite natural daylight to flow into the space, and together with the greenery create a light, bright, and comforting workspace. The Catalyst team also upcycled the carpet flooring, and designed the office to feature an exposed ceiling meaning there was less building required.
