Shaping the Future of Workplaces
Welcome to our showcase of innovative workplace solutions!
At Catalyst, we specialise in transforming work environments into spaces that inspire, adapt, and deliver results. As leaders in workplace strategy, design, and delivery, we pride ourselves on offering tailored, end-to-end solutions for businesses of all sizes. From local start-ups to global organisations, we partner with our clients to create workspaces that not only meet their operational needs but also reflect their values and future aspirations.
Why do we do what we do? Because we believe that a great workplace is more than just walls and desks — it’s a dynamic ecosystem that fosters productivity, creativity, and connection. Every project we undertake is driven by our passion for helping businesses thrive, whether it’s through smart lease strategies, embracing local culture, bold rebrands, or preparing for the future of work.
In this post, we’re sharing four standout projects that reflect these principles.
1️. Smart lease strategies: modern workplaces, seismic prep, and fast turnarounds
Our collaboration with a local government agency in Wellington highlights the importance of strategic lease planning. Faced with a lease expiry, we delivered a modern workplace that balanced functionality with seismic safety, ensuring long-term resilience. By repurposing existing furniture and maximising natural light, we created an office environment that aligns with community values and enhances productivity. With a tight deadline, the project demonstrated how thoughtful planning and efficient execution can address complex needs, making it a benchmark for public sector workplaces.

After a rigorous tender procurement process, Catalyst were honored to be awarded the Design Build contract, thanks to our strong track record in government projects, transparency in costing, commitment to timelines, and a collaborative spirit. This project for a local government agency allows our vision and expertise to converge, creating a space that reflects community values and enhances functionality.

2️. Kiwi-owned culture: small business charm and talent appeal
Dinosaur Polo Club, a Kiwi-owned video game studio, shows how small businesses can stand out in a competitive industry. As their team expanded, they needed a workspace that reflected their values while attracting top talent. The studio we designed features a stunning green wall, flexible collaboration areas, and sustainable materials that promote well-being. This project not only won gold at the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards but also reinforced how Kiwi ingenuity and innovative workplace design can create environments where talent thrives.

3️. Bold rebrands: flagship offices, global rollouts, and end-to-end partnerships
Gallagher Insurance’s flagship Auckland office redefined what a workplace rebrand can achieve. Designed as a model for future rollouts, the 4,754-square-meter office combines biophilic elements with a layout that encourages collaboration and productivity. Featuring a café-style kitchen, breakout spaces, and vibrant branding, the office aligns with Gallagher’s global identity while catering to local needs. This transformation exemplifies how strong partnerships and comprehensive services can create workplaces that set a new standard for rebrands.
Gallagher Insurance Auckland Flagship Office
Gallagher Insurance, formerly known as Crombie Lockwood, were keen to get their Auckland central teams working from one flagship office, having been in two central city locations for many years. This required a complete refit to accommodate both locations and various functional teams together and also presented a perfect opportunity to showcase the planned rebrand to Gallagher.

4️. Future-ready workplaces: hybrid work, competitive edge, and attracting top talent
McVeagh Fleming’s move to 188 Quay Street demonstrates how law firms can adapt to the hybrid work era while staying competitive. The open-plan design integrates collaborative spaces and private rooms to meet diverse working styles, with large windows providing natural light and bespoke furniture enhancing functionality. This modern workspace was designed to attract top talent in a competitive industry, proving that aligning office design with future-focused strategies can set businesses apart in an ever-evolving world.
McVeagh Fleming Auckland Office
Relocating the team to their new home at 188 Quay Street provided an excellent opportunity to co-create an office designed around the needs of its people and clients. The firm decided to move away from the traditional, heavily partitioned law firm offices and open the perimeter of the building to create a new sense of spaciousness, supporting collaboration and confidentiality simultaneously.
