Project Information
Catalyst was engaged by Waka Kotahi to refit their offices located in the Aon Tower in downtown Auckland. The priority was to create a seamless transition between the old tenancy and the new tenancy on the same floor, while also meeting the client's requirements for quieter spaces and collaboration areas.

Catalyst initially focused on preserving the aesthetic of the previous tenancy, seamlessly integrating the existing flora, fauna, and native timber theme into the new space.
To achieve this, Catalyst started by transforming the kitchen into a refreshed tea point with new flooring. The team then added new meeting rooms and focus rooms with acoustic panelling that matched the existing design, meeting the client's need for quieter spaces. Additionally, acoustic wall panelling was installed inside and wall cladding outside the curved meeting room.
To create an ideal collaboration area, Catalyst installed new feature ceiling baffles over the new collab area to replicate the existing design at the stairwell. The new collab area also has an acoustic feature wall and wooden batten screen to create privacy in the open plan.
For the new "innovation hub," Catalyst installed new modular furniture with an acoustic feature wall and wide sliding whiteboard doors to conceal storage for conference furniture.
The team also reconfigured the comms/server room access and the stairwell and close-up tea point area to manage sound transfer from the existing tenancy. In addition, the existing meeting room was transformed into a touch-down area.
Finally, Catalyst added new meeting room furniture and open plan workspace furniture to complete the project, resulting in a new office space that met all the client's needs and exceeded expectations.
