The Rub

  • Completion date:September 2014
  • Project size:115 sqm
  • Duration:8 weeks

Sufficient detailing was placed on the design which includes bespoke furniture and joinery with feature ceilings. The space is customised to suit the purpose of each zone; massage areas are comfortable, cosy and relaxing, while the arrival area is open and light.

Our upfront approach to costs of fit-out, council requirements and early detection of the base build deficiencies meant that The Rub for the first time had a positive fit-out experience. Our client is delighted with the final result and are looking forward working with Catalyst in other cities throughout New Zealand.

Client objectives

  • With the recent completed fit-out of their flagship store in Auckland, The Rub were keen to expand throughout the country – with Wellington as their second location.
  • Located on a busy street in Wellington CBD, construction requirements included traffic management and the completion of base build works.
  • Reflecting the design of their flagship store, the Wellington shop resulted in an elegant and peaceful atmosphere – achieved with the use of natural timbers, soft lighting and organic features

To create a design that appeals to the emotions, a tranquil space where people can feel relaxed required some delightful design. I feel The Rub really captured this.
